Skaneateles United Methodist Church will host “Dreams and Desires: An Evening of Classical Music,” Friday, Sept. 28, beginning at 8 p.m. The participating artists are known in the Central New York area for their work with the Syracuse Opera and Syracuse Symphony. Frank and Veronica Tokarz will be renewing their marriage vows on Monday, Sept. 17, at the 8:15 a.m. Mass, St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Skaneateles, in preparation for their 75th wedding anniversary the following day. A reception will be held after Mass for anyone wishing to join them.

More than just art, the stained glass windows reveal history, spirituality, community ties

Skaneateles residents passing down East Genesee Street soon will notice boarded-up window frames have replaced the beautiful stained-glass windows in the top story, front façade of the First Presbyterian Church. Don’t worry — the church is not moving, or going defunct, but rather nearing the completion of a 20-year project to restore all the stained glass windows to a structurally sound state.
