Skaneateles Garden Club News

— Lenore Mack was recently honored for celebrating 60 years with The Skaneateles Garden Club. A tribute written by P.J. Lemp and Ann Merrill was read at April’s annual luncheon at the Skaneateles Country Club.

Lenore joined the club in 1952. She was the president of Skaneateles Garden Club from 1959 to 1961. She was the director of the 6th District of the Federated Garden Clubs of NYS. She served on the Federated Garden Club State Board for several years and was president of the Arrangers Guild of Central New York.

Lenore was chairman and founder, along with Helen Checo, of Skaneateles, of the Community Arboretum. She chaired house and garden tours conducted by the club and taught flower arranging classes. She was an Accredited Flower Show Judge.

Lenore is now an honorary member of SGC. Lenore also received a certificate from the 6th District acknowledging her many contributions to the club. Ann Merrill, Loretta Marx and Nancy Easter, who succeeded Lenore as Arboretum Chairman, visited her at her home in Auburn along with Lenore's daughter Sharon Sloan. Member Joyce Barnett of “Flora Bella” did the arrangement which included roses, lilies, larkspur and stock in shades of white, pink and fuschia. Lenore loved the flower arrangement an said “it contained her two favorite flowers — roses and lilies.”

Lenore is a very talented member who loves horticulture and floral design.
