Skaneateles HS announces senior athletic awards

Skaneateles High School gave out awards to top senior athletes in various categories at a ceremony held last Wednesday night at the High School cafeteria.

Shannon Byrne and Tyler Nodine-Saunders each received the Lee Rittenmeyer Award, given to quiet leaders who sacrifice personal accolades for the good of the team they are on.

Carly Davis and Brandon Barron gained the Block “S” Award for athletes that contribute the most to the athletic program as a whole.

Trevor Diamond and Kaela Fiutak received the Outstanding Athlete Award as the school’s top all-around athletes.

The Coaches Workhorse Award, given to athletes that worked the hardest and devoted the most time and effort to their respective sports, went to Jimmy Atkinson and Emily Call.

Jackie Leslie and Brendan Major shared in the Peter Gracefo Award, which honors athletes that demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship and character.

For outstanding achievements in citizenship, athletics and scholarship, four athletes – Erin Tonzi, Chelsea Hamilton, Sam Goodell and Ryan Sherman – picked up the Art Hyatt Award.

Finally, Shelby McNeilly and Max Johnson earned the Victory Sports Medicine Award, given to those exhibiting the top qualities of a student-athlete.
