To the editor:
While I believe the concept of a permanent boat dock parallel and adjacent to the pier might be a good idea to save the rebuilding of a temporary dock each summer, I absolutely object to any part of it extending west of the pier.
The majority of Skaneateles residents do not enjoy lake rights or views, nor do they own boats. When we look south by the lake near the gazebo, we’d like to see the lake, not a boat dock. I would think summer tourists might also agree.
I invite others to voice their opinions on this idea. Will residents be responsible for upkeep of a permanent boat dock? If yes, I’d say forget it. Too few would use it and for only a few months out of the year.
